S’LICHOT!!!!!!!
REMINDER: In addition to our regular Fri eve Kabbalat Shabbat at 6 pm on Fri 9/3, we will gather for our candlelight S’lichot (forgiveness) service at 9 pm on Saturday, Sept 4. We will have a little dessert oneg at 9 pm, just before the service begins. This service is a time to focus on our reflections about the past year and deepen our sense of tshuva, return to Torah, in preparation for the New Year. When we ask for forgiveness, we engage in forgiving ourselves and each other, and in creating a relationship of forgiveness with the Divine One.

HUMONGOUS NEWSLETTER and S’LICHOT
The Days of Awe are drawing close, and this weekly update is rich with information. Please see the September/October newsletter for articles from President Bert Chessin, Lay Leader Laurie Franklin, and Vice President Sherry Kolenda, plus articles about Har Shalom’s first-ever Yizkor Memorial Collage, library acquisitions, Sukkot, Simchat Torah, and MUCH more! This newsletter features an easy-to-read calendar grid for Sept and Oct that you can print and hang up for reference. Also, this week, we will experience our first S’lichot service (in HS collective memory) on Saturday 9/4 at 9 pm. S’lichot means forgiveness. It’s time to make a genuine “Chesbon Hanefesh” (accounting for our spirit) and begin our deliberate turning towards Torah in preparation for the New Year. We change the Torah mantle and ark curtains from everyday colors to white, symbolizing desire for purity. This service, in an atmosphere of soft candlelight and with special music, speaks to the heart. We welcome everyone to join us for this and all of the High Holy Day services.
